D1-Review a recent advance in support systems technology

D1-Review a recent advance in support systems technology

In this blog entry I am going to be talking about control software. Software is designed to control what content may or may not be viewed by a reader, especially when used to restrict material delivered over the Internet via the Web, e-mail, or other means.
Restrictions can be applied at various levels. This is a mean of checking out what people are doing on their computers for example in a school making sure children don’t go on inappropriate websites.

The advantages of IT support using control software are that they are able to have an idea about the different website students are on and can notify the teachers. Another advantage is that it easier to send files to people instead of sending them individually. The can also remotely take control of computers and help people solve problems. To keep students on task, by removing the distractions of online working. Certain websites, applications and devices can be blocked at an individual, group, or entire network level to focus. It was also designed to keep students safe in the online environment. Viewing unsuitable content, giving out personal information, accessing indecent images and cyberbullying.

This disadvantage of using software control on students is that they have no privacy because the might not want to be monitored for no reason. Another disadvantage of using software control is that once the teachers have taken control of student’s computers they cannot do anything to control their computer. The problem students might face is that they might think that there are being watched the whole time which can pressure into knowing that there every move on the computer is being monitored which can affect their work with mistakes. Or they might feel less confident with their work.

Impero-Impero Remote Manager speeds up the response time of technical support teams, helping organisations to avoid disruptive downtime throughout the day. Tutors and IT support staff can take control of a user’s computer to fix a problem, lend assistance or demonstrate how things should be done. This classroom management software, once again, saves valuable time, enhances learning and ensures things run smoothly across the network at all times.

NetSupport Manager is a remote management solution ideal for businesses that need to be able to control their entire network from a central point. It runs on a variety of different operating systems so that, no matter how complex your IT infrastructure is, you can manage it centrally. The multitude of features and security options mean that it should fit in well with the needs of most businesses. It is a powerful application that allows you to take full control of any computer on your network running a variety of different operating systems. Once connected, you can access all the functionality of that computer as if you were sitting in front of it and transfer files, provide remote assistance or give interactive demos. NetSupport Manager is a very powerful solution for anyone who needs a remote management system for their business or schools.

With NetOp you can stream videos on your students’ screens, fast and in sync. Teach graphics-intensive subjects like CAD. With Vision Pro, you can take any software you’re running and share it on your students’ computers in real time. You can select the websites you want your students to have access to, or just pick a few you want to keep off limits. Demo from your PC to your students' smart devices. It makes using technology in the classroom smoother, easier and more professional.

Comparing the three different types of control software we have Impero, NetSupport and NetOp. The feature in Impero that is different from the other is that Impero can even opt to save this file onto a student’s home directory. In addition to sending files, staff can easily retrieve a file, such as homework. NetOp you can also provide key visual information such as OS type, network address, Wi-Fi signal strength and battery life (when appropriate), the person currently logged-on user and the computer name for easy identification. Users can even choose to view a selected monitor from multi-monitor systems. With NetOp you can lock the user’s mouse and keyboard individually.
My opinion of control software is positive because it can help students to be on task and not be distracted.  There are many benefits to using these in which you can collect files from each student into one folder and you can make sure they are doing the right stuff the downside to that is that they have no privacy and they might have a feeling they’re being watch 24/7 and might be less confident in their work.

Netstar is an IT support company they are a round the clock IT Support and attentive, proactive IT care.

One of the services they support is that they fully outsource. What they do is that they fully outsource IT Support so you can focus on your business. Fully outsourcing your IT support mean that you as the business can benefit from expert advice and helping to plan future IT requirements. A drawback to this is that the company would want to require a lot of money as you are suing them too look for more sources and solutions

They also provide an IT project service. They say that if embarking on a new IT Project but you as the organisation lack on the expertise or resources to carry it out, that they can help you. The potential drawback of this is that you might rely on the company so much that you forget what you were doing. The business might benefit from this by because they are helping you plan your project out so you don’t have to.

This company also provide an in-house IT Support team and providing Out of Hours IT support which is an IT manager support. They provide IT advice, planning, and budgeting so the business engineers or IT manager can deal with day to day issues, and you can achieve your IT and business goals. They can benefit from this by not worrying about future problems as it would have already been planned. The drawback to this is that it is out of work hour support meaning you have to work in your spare time with them in which they are going to request a lot of money.

Overall I have talked about control software and its advantages and disadvantages and why might they be important. I have also given my option on control software. I have also compared all three of the programs and their main features and what makes them different.

M3-Explain the role of ethical decision making in organisational IT security.

Introduction
Ethics means the correct way of doing a certain things. This means an employee working for a business/organisation should be doing the right things. Ethics also refers to the specific values, standards, rules, and agreements people adopt for conducting their lives. This is important to an organisation because they need to be following all the rules within the business/organisation.

Freedom of Information
Freedom of information means being able to get information when requested. This means businesses that are run by the government are obliged to give the consumer information when asked.   This means that members of the public are entitled to request for information from public authorities.  Freedom of information can affect and organisation IT security by accidentally giving out information which could be used for fraud. This is linked to ethics by making sure the business giving the information does not give any other information that they didn’t request.

The advantages of the freedom information act are The public is kept knowledgeable about the actions of its government. Also the officials in the government are kept honest because what they do can be made public. The disadvantage of freedom information is that the release of certain information could jeopardize relationships. The release of other information could affect the conduct of negotiations. If tactical information were released it could put our troops in harm.

Personal privacy
Personal privacy means that you want to be doing a certain thing on your own without anyone else knowing or seeing. If they do know what you are doing that is known by invading your personal space. It is also the too ability to be able to control what personal information you send out over the Internet or the personal information about you that you allow other people to access.

The disadvantages of personal privacy is that the context of the organisation personal privacy is that people are watching your every movement and when you log in to a system on a pc they will know what you are doing as they are watching you which that is an invasion of your personal space. The advantage of personal privacy is that you are free to do anything in your area of workspace like in a. office rather than having workstations.Ethics is linked to personal privacy as it is a wrong thing to do to invade some ones space by watching there every single movement It is better for them to only check the person they are watching only from time to time.

Permission
The current issue with CCTV is that they might be used in the wrong by spying on people which is an invasion to their privacy. Many people welcome CCTV on the streets of our towns and cities in the fight against crime. It can also help to secure the convictions of criminals who might have otherwise been able to go about their business and remain undetected.
The ethical issues attached are that CCTV is not being use the way there supposed to be used.  Most of the times it is an invasion to their personal space.

Conclusion
Over all I have talked about ethics, freedom of information, personal privacy and the current issues regarding the use of CCTV. I have talked about why is it important for an organisation to consider ethics when dealing with personal information. I have also talked about freedom of information and it advantages and disadvantages and how it is linked to ethics. I have also talked about personal private and its advantages and disadvantage. I have also mentioned in the work about the current issues regarding the use of CCTV, videos and photo to capture people’s movements.

My Expirience with Prezi

My experience using prezi was a devining time becasue it is simple to use once you go through the steps on how to make a presentation on prezi. The simalarities between Prezi and PowerPoint is that their both used for presentation purposes. They also both use slides that contains work or information that we have done for ourselves. Another similaratie is that they can both use animations but prezi is more fancier and more entertaining when it comes to presenting. Im sure i will Prezi again as it is simple for me to use because i have learnt the way.
